Fires can happen anytime and anywhere, be it in offices, homes, restaurants, vehicles and even in malls.
But not many of us know how to use the right Portable Fire Extinguisher (PFE-1). If wrong use it, can lead to fatal for ourselves as well as others and even property.I will tell you a good technique, you can use a technique called PASS abbreviated from Pull, Aim, Squeeze and Sweep. This technique is taken from the English language and if it is translated to, Drag, Point, Spray and Sweep.Let's discuss one by one this PASS technique. Before you get closer to the source of the fire, make sure your position is about 2.5m from the source of fire then do the technical PASS.
1. Pull the Ring (Pull Ring)When a fire occurs, pick up Portable Fire Extinguisher (PFE) near you and head to the fire location. When at the fire location, unplug the associated ring in PFE,2. Aim Low (Navigate down)When the pin has been pulled, point your APAR flange towards the bottom of the source of the fire. Before you head to the source of fire, observe the direction of the Wind. Arakahkan Apar You are in the direction of the wind.3. Squeeze the leverTo remove the contents of APAR, you must press the lever in the APAR. If you release the lever, it will stop the spray.4. Sweep side by side (Spray from side to side)
Go slowly toward the burning part and then spray toward the bottom of the fire from side to side until the fire is completely extinguished. If it's not already out, take a new APAR and start at an early stage.Remember !!! The use of PFE is not for long fires, but PFE is used for initial handling. This PFE only works about 12 to 15 seconds, therefore you need to use it properly.
